Why You Should Upgrade to Windows 11

Microsoft released the first version of the Windows operating system back in 1985. Since then, Windows has dominated the personal computer landscape. Upwards of 90% of all PCs run some version of Windows.

Released in 2021, Windows 11 is the latest version of Microsoft. It is a free upgrade for anyone running Windows 10, as long as your computer can run the new Windows 11.

Businesses throughout the country rely on Windows to do their jobs. However, that reliance makes some business owners hesitant to make significant changes that would affect every computer in the company.

After several months of working with Windows 11 and overseeing the upgrades for several businesses throughout the Central Florida area, we believe that most companies should upgrade their computers to Windows 11 sooner rather than later.

Here’s why.

1. Windows 11 Is Designed For Hybrid Working

Even as workers return to the office, it’s clear that hybrid working environments are here to stay. Windows 11 makes it easier than ever for colleagues to collaborate on projects, even when they aren’t in the same office.

Microsoft Teams has been fully integrated into Windows 11. Teams was initially released in 2017 and became largely embraced by the business community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Teams allows coworkers to quickly chat with each other, either individually or as a group. Employees can quickly share files, and virtual meetings can be held all within the platform.

Teams will allow you to connect with individuals outside of your organization. It doesn’t matter what device they use or their operating system, all you have to do is share the link to the Teams meeting.

2. Focused On Security

Keeping your information secure is critical. Having proper IT security has never been more urgent, whether it’s keeping proprietary information safe or keeping viruses off your network.

Microsoft has added several layers of security to Windows 11 without negatively impacting the user experience or productivity. Microsoft calls this “chip to cloud” security, with protection at every vulnerability point, from the hardware inside the machine to the connections with external networks.

3. Optimized For Performance

Operating systems tend to be faster and more powerful than previous versions, especially when paired with a computer designed specifically for the new operating system. But when you upgrade an existing machine to a new operating system, there’s a risk that the old hardware isn’t entirely up to running the latest software, resulting in a loss of performance.

Luckily, this doesn’t seem to be the case with Windows 11.

Machines that upgrade to Windows 11 have significantly faster boot times, and overall performance is noticeably improved. This is likely due to the hefty hardware requirements needed to run Windows 11. But regardless, computers that can upgrade to Windows 11 should see a boost in their overall performance.

At Consortyo, our job is to make the upgrade to Windows 11 as easy as possible for our clients. We can handle as much (or as little) of the process as the client desires.

It all starts with a consultation, where we discuss the pros and cons of upgrading for your specific business. While all companies will ultimately want to upgrade, certain situations would mean that now is not the right time.

Usually, in cases where we don’t believe a business should upgrade, it is simply because of a critical piece of software that they use that isn’t compatible with Windows 11 yet. Or it could be that the existing hardware isn’t powerful enough to run the new operating system.

However, the vast majority of businesses would benefit from upgrading. And we can proudly say that we haven’t detected any issues when upgrading our current clients. The upgrade itself is quick, often taking just an hour or so.

Once the upgrade is complete, we offer our clients additional information to help them and their employees adapt to the new operating system.
